Sr. M. Immaculata Buttner O.Carm. was born in Hirschfeld – Deutschland, Germany on January 3, 1934. Since she was a young girl, she would like to dedicate herself to the Lord by becoming a nun. On October 22, 1951 she entered the Carmelite Noviate in Germany and had her first temporary vows on April 21, 1953. After three years, on April 21, 1956 she had her solemn profession. Having inspired by St. Therese of Lisieux who wanted to become a missionary though a contemplative nun, Sr. M. Immaculata decided to take the chance to move to Indonesia, a mission area of the Carmelite Dutch province at that time. Together with two other nuns, she started Flos Carmeli Convent, the new Carmelite convent in Batu 1967. She spent her whole life in dedication to prayer and silence. She passed away on Sunday, August 07, 2016 at 14.10. May she rest in peace.
