On June 9, 2016 the Indonesian Province of Carmelite Order started a new ministry in the quasi parish of St. Therese of Lisieux, Saripoi. This quasi parish was a station of St. Clemens parish Puruk Cahu, Murung Raya, Central Kalimantan. It is located in Tanah Siang, Murung Raya, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. The majority of the parishioners are Dayak people.
This new ministry is the second Carmelite parish in the diocese of Palangkaraya. The first one is gathe parish of Mary Mother of Carmel, located in Kasongan – Katingan Hilir, Katinga, about four hour drive from Saripoi. Fr. Ignasius Budiono O.Carm., the Prior Provincial of the Indonesian Province and Fr. Petrus Kusdiyantoro O.Carm. visited this place last year before making the decision to start Carmelite ministry here. Fr. Petrus Kusdiantoro O.Carm. was then assigned to serve as the parish priest of this quasi parish.
