On April 24, 2016, Fr. Paulus Waris Santoso O.Carm., an Indonesian Carmelite, was promoted to be the assistant to the parish priest of St. Teresa, Hong Kong. The parish was established in 1932 and under the matronage of St. Therese of Lisieux. The parish church is located on 258 Prince Edward Road, Kowloon. Under the auspices of St Teresa’s Church are a number of subsidiary centers, including the St. Ignatius Chapel, Diocesan Pastoral Centre for the Disabled and St. Joseph’s Chapel.
Fr. Paulus Waris Santoso o.Carm. was one of the first Carmelites working in Hong Kong. He moved to Hong Kong on October 21, 2013 together with Fr. Heribertus Heru Purwanto O.Carm. in their first years they stayed in the house of Maryknoll Fathers in Stanley, Hong Kong before moving out to different ministries. Fr. Paulus Waris Santoso O.Carm. moved to St. Anne Parish in Stanley, Hong Kong, while Fr. Heribertus Heru Purwanto O.Carm. moved to St. Jerome parish in Tin Shui Wa, Hong Kong.
