Sidikalang Carmelite Community consists of the Carmelites who work for Sidikalang Parish. Sidikalang is located on the mountainous area of Dairi. The parish was started by Father CL. Hammers, OFM. Cap. On 28 February 1938. In 1965 the parish was offered to the Carmelites. On 2 February 1965 Fr. Sarko Dipojudo, O. Carm. (the General Commissary of Indonesia at that time) and Fr. Quirinus Kramer, O. Carm. (the general commissariat councilor) came to Sidikalang for a survey. In 1966, the parish was taken over by the Carmelites. In 1971 the Archbishop of Medan approved the request of the Carmelites to turn the priory to become a formation house. The parish priest at that time was Fr. Quirinus Kramer, O. Carm. Unfortunately on 14 September 1975 Fr. Quirinus Kramer, O. Carm. Passed away. He was then replaced by Fr. Anthony Scerri, O. Carm. who came with Fr. Paull Gurr, O. Carm and Br. Timothy Goosens, O. Carm. They arrived in Sidikalang on 30 Maret 1973.
Many Carmelites have served the parish. At present time the parish was served by Fr. Matias Mengapul Simarmata, O. Carm. as the parish priest and Fr. Angelus Soperatignjo, O. Carm. as the assistant. Both of them serve 17.021 people in 43 stations: Bakal Julu, Bangun, Binjara, Borno, Buntu Raja, Jamburea, Juma Takar, Juma teguh, Jumantuang, Kaban Julu, Karing, KM 11, Lae, Marampat, Lae Terondi, Mandumpang, M. Sondel, Pangiringan, Panji Bako, Panji Dabutar, Penanggalan, Penuntungan, Rajangampu, Resdes Raden, Rube Haji, Saluksuk, Sibagindar, Sidiangkat, Sidikalang, Sigalingging, Sikarahung, Sileuh, Silumboyah, Simallopuk, Simperbung, Sinderung, Singgabur, Sitinjo, Sumbul Traju, Sungai Raya, Tambunan, Tangga Rube, Temba, and Tinada.
