Fr. Dionysius Kosasih O.Carm. was born in Sidikalang, North Sumatera on August 22,1956. His original name was Franciscus Kho. His parents used to be very active in the Church. They made good friends with the priest who often visited their home and had meals with them. Franciscus has interacted with the religious life since he was very small. Through the priests, little Franciscus learned about his vocation.

After finishing his junior high school, Franciscus entered the minor seminary of Pemantang Siantar. It was not an easy time for him since he had never lived away from his parents. Little by little he could adapted himself with his new surroundings. As his parish priest was a Carmelite he decided to join the Carmelite Order. After completed his study in the minor seminary, in 1975 he went to Batu to enter the Carmelite novitiate. He took a religious name of Dionysius.

After one year in the novitiate, he started to study philosophy and theology at Widya Sasana School of Philosophy and Theology. Then, on January 13, 1977 he had his first profession and on July 11, 1982 he had his solemn profession. Dionysius was one of the cleverest students in his class. He finished his study on time and was ordained as a priest on February 13, 1983.

His first assignment was the assistant to the parish priest of Pasar Merah, Medan. He did the ministry for one year because in the following year (1994) he was sent to Rome to continue his study. His major was spirituality. He finished his study in 1987 and went back to Indonesia. His was assigned as the novice master in the Carmelite novitiate in Batu. In 1996 the prior provincial of the Indonesian Province sent him back to Rome to take his doctoral program. He completed his study in 2000 with the predicate of summa cum laude. When he was finishing his study, there came a phone call from the provincial chapter in Malang asking him to be one of the provincial councillors. He accepted that task and came back to Indonesia as soon as he finished his study.

From 2000 to 2003, he worked as the provincial councillor, the director of the Indonesian Carmelite Institute, the prior of the novitiate and the novice master. Then in 2004 to 2006 he was asked to focus on his work as the director of the Indonesian Carmelite Institute which was growing fast. During that period he was still assigned as the prior of the novitiate. In 2007 he moved to the Carmelite monastery of Blessed Titus Brandsma, Malang. There he functioned as the prior of the community and the formator. In the provincial chapter of 2009, he was elected as the vice prior provincial and was re-elected in 2012. As the vice prior provincial he moved to the provincial house (the Carmelite monastery of St. Albert de Trapani, Malang). He stayed there until he finished his term.

Finally in 2015, he moved to the Carmelite monastery of Venerable John of Saint Samson, Malang. Until present time he works as the prior of the community and the formator for the post-pastoral students.
