On Thursday evening, October 15, 2015, the Indonesian Carmelite Family which members are all Indonesian Carmelite religious and lay people either affiliated to the Carmelite Order or the Discalced Carmelite Order gathered in the upper hall of St. Albert Carmelite High School Malang to participate in the closing celebration of the 5th centenary of the birth St. Teresa de Jesus. Almost 400 people participated in the Eucharistic celebration. The celebrant was the Prior Provincial of the Indonesian Province of the Carmelite Order. He was accompanied by Fr. Titus Brandsma Adji Wilasa O.Carm., Fr. Dionysius Kosasih O.Carm., Fr. Inocentius CSE and Fr. Alberto Djono Moi O.Carm.
After the Eucharistic celebration, the audience were invited to join a talk-show hosted by Bro. Dimas Pele Alu O.Carm. There were four speakers in the talk-show: Mrs. Amita Gwat Santoso, Mr. Riyanto, and two young kids from the nearby parish. They shared their experience in encountering Carmelites, learning the Carmelite spirituality from them and living the Carmelite spirituality in their daily life. The audience enjoyed the talk-show and they responded to the sharing by asking questions.
This closing celebration is the last event of the serial of events to commemorate St. Teresa de Jesus and her teachings. The serial of events includes the various seminars on St. Teresa de Jesus in several cities in Indonesia, the publishing of a book on the themes of Teresa de Jesus’s writings, the publishing of the record of songs with Carmelite themes, and social charity activities.
