The Holy Trinity, source and model of the Church, is also the source and the model of the Carmelites’ life as brothers. The Trinitarian communion (koinonia) of knowledge and love in which they share comes to them as gift, and urges them to open themselves to knowledge and love of God and of their neighbours. Thus, growth in knowledge and in love within each local community, open to the entire Order, to the Church and to the whole human race, 13 manifests ever more perfectly this fundamental element of their identity as brothers of Blessed Mary of Mount Carmel.
